History
Beach Park is a tourist complex covering a total area of 180,000 m², which is visited by around 1.150.000 people a year.
Timeline
Located in Porto das Dunas, 16 km from Fortaleza, Beach Park originated in 1985 out of a trendy beachfront restaurant. In 1989, it opened its water park, the first in Latin America, with three water slides.
During the same year, the beach area received new attractions such as Beach Portal, the Sailing Raft Museum, the Bottle Path, the Fish Square, the Mermaid Waterfall and sculptures. The Beach Restaurant continued to offer delicious meals and is today the stage for the Beach Sounds project, which presents local pop-rock groups.
In 1996, the complex gained a hotel, part of the Caesar Tower chain, which in 1998 became the Beach Park Suites Resort, with 175 suites. This meets the standards of the best hotels in the world.
In 2000, a convention center was built to serve the academic and business sectors. The Beach Park Convention Center, can hold up to 450 people, with its four large rooms, internet system, sound and image facilities, as well as its buffet and event production services.
Structure
Nowadays, 20 years on, the Beach Park Complex has a complete tourism and leisure structure, which is one of the best in the country, consisting of The Beach, The Water Park and The Resorts. It is visited by around 1.150.000 people a year, who go there to have fun, relax, host and do business, with the natural beauty of the Ceará coast in the background.
The Beach Park is nowadays affiliated to important tourism and leisure institutions, in Brazil and abroad. It is part of the WWA - World Waterpark Association; IAAPA - International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions; ABRASEL - Brazilian Association of Restaurants and Entertainment Companies; and ABIH - Brazilian Hotel Industry Association.
Awards
Amongst the awards that Beach Park has already won are: the WWA (World Waterpark Association) Quality Award, the WWA Industry Leadership Award, the Best Park in the Country (Jornal O Estado - O Estado Newspaper) and Best Theme Park (Revista Viagem e Turismo - Travel and Tourism Magazine).
Tourism and Development
As one of the main tourist destinations in the country, Beach Park has also contributed to the economic development of the region, by generating employment and income as well as by publicizing regional tourism in the country and abroad.
